Rest & Restore Protocol™

Your body knows how to rest. Sometimes it just needs help remembering.

Tranquil, restful scene representing Rest and Restore Protocol nervous system therapy

When you've been under stress for a long time, rest stops feeling like something your body does naturally. You might sleep and still wake up exhausted. You might try everything, and still feel like you can't quite settle. That's not a personal failing. It's what prolonged stress does to a nervous system that has been working too hard for too long.

The Rest and Restore Protocol™ helps your body find its way back.

What Is the Rest and Restore Protocol™?

The Rest and Restore Protocol™ (RRP) is a 10-session listening therapy developed by Anthony Gorry and Dr. Stephen Porges, grounded in decades of neuroscience research. It uses specially composed music, not a generic relaxation playlist, to help your nervous system gradually shift from stress and exhaustion back toward balance and rest.

Your body has a natural ability to recover and restore itself. But when stress has been present for a long time, that ability can get disrupted. RRP uses steady, rhythmic sound patterns that work with your body's own internal rhythms to help it remember how to settle, recharge, and recover on its own.

Who Can Benefit?

RRP is designed for anyone whose body seems stuck in a pattern of stress, shutdown, or exhaustion, even when you're doing everything you can to take care of yourself. You may benefit if you experience:

  • Ongoing fatigue or low energy that doesn't improve with rest
  • Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up feeling genuinely rested
  • Stomach or digestive issues that seem connected to stress
  • Feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, or constantly on guard
  • Lingering effects of past difficult or traumatic experiences
  • Feeling too drained or shut down to get much out of therapy

How It Works

RRP uses carefully composed music with steady, rhythmic patterns to gently engage your nervous system. Rather than targeting specific symptoms, it creates conditions that help your body settle on its own, encouraging the kind of deep rest and recovery that prolonged stress tends to block. Think of it as giving your nervous system permission to finally let go.

The program is a gradual, 10-session listening course guided by your therapist. Each session builds gently on the last, slowly expanding your body's capacity to rest, regulate, and recover. You'll listen through the Unyte Health app with over-ear headphones in a comfortable, quiet space.

What the Research Shows

People who complete RRP commonly notice improvements in sleep, mood, digestion, energy, and an overall sense of calm.

93%

reported improvement in anxiety; 67% saw symptoms drop to a manageable level

82%

reported improvement in depression; 68% saw symptoms drop to a manageable level

88%

reported improvement in trauma symptoms; 72% saw symptoms drop to a manageable level

76%

reported improvement in insomnia; 44% saw symptoms drop to a manageable level

Delivered Remotely

We offer RRP through remote, therapist-guided sessions, so you can do the program from the comfort of your own space. Since the listening happens through an app and headphones, remote delivery isn't a workaround, it's how RRP was designed to work.

Your therapist will begin with a conversation about your needs and goals, help you get set up with the app, and support you through all 10 sessions, checking in on how you're feeling and connecting what comes up in the listening with your broader therapeutic work. RRP is meant to complement, not replace, whatever other work you're already doing, whether that's talk therapy, EMDR, somatic work, IFS, or something else.

Why Choose Live Your Life Counseling?

We believe the quality of care you receive is directly connected to the well-being of the person providing it. That's not just a value we hold, it's a belief that shapes how we run our practice. We work hard to support our clinicians so they can show up fully present for you, because a clinician in survival mode cannot help you out of yours.

Our approach is deeply human, trauma-informed, and grounded in a simple belief: healing isn't about fixing what's broken or becoming someone new. It's about freeing yourself from the unwanted ways the past may still be shaping your present. Our goal is to empower you to live your life with more freedom, choice, and presence than before.

We'll work to match you with a clinician who feels like a genuine fit, even if that means referring you to another practice, because we know that relationship is the foundation everything else is built on.
